Project 4: Educational Plan and Portfolio
Your fourth project will combine all that we have discussed and written about this semester. You will create an education plan that you will include in your College Writing 1 portfolio. For the portfolio aspect, you will need to revise one of your three previous projects. The choice of which one is yours. This plan and portfolio will be a reflection of what you have learned about academic literacy, yourself, education and more. Also, in your portfolio, you will need to include a resume, cover letter and possible internships/jobs for your future career.
For your educational plan, you need to include your plan for the rest of your time at KSU (including courses to take, extracurricular activities, internships, volunteer work, jobs, etc). Your educational plan can either be an essay, broken down into sections, or multi-modal.
The process and format for this project is purposely left vague so that you are able to put your own twist on the project. Requirements include: revised essay, resume, cover letter, possible internships/jobs, educational plan (by answering the questions below); however, feel free to include other artifacts that you feel fit into to the project (such as course requirement sheets, pictures, information about your dream job, ect). Be creative, but most of all, have fun. This project is all about you and where your life is headed.
Questions to answer in your plan are:
1. What is your future career and why?
2. What are your career goals?
3. What are your academic goals? How do you plan on reaching them?
4. What are your personal goals for the rest of your time at Kent?
5. What is your coursework plan and timeline for the rest of your time at Kent?
6. What extracurricular activities do you or do you want to participate in and why?
7. What skills do you need to learn for your future career and how do you plan on learning them?
8. What does the job outlook look like for you career?
Your educational plan and portfolio can either be in a binder, folder, online or in another format that reflects you or your major. Presentation is a part of this project, so think through how you want to present yourself.
